Attend Meetings
The Indiana Radiological Society has two meetings a year, one in the spring and one in the fall. The meetings are most often held in the Indianapolis area. Members are encouraged to attend the meetings – to learn about our state-level advocacy efforts, to enjoy talks by renown lecturers, and to connect with fellow radiologists from across the state.

Save the date and registration information is sent out to all members via email and information will be posted on this website.

Represent Radiologists at the Annual Physician Advocacy Day
In addition to our two annual meetings, we encourage members to participate in the Indiana State Medical Association’s (ISMA) annual Physician Advocacy Day. Each January physicians from across the state meet with legislators at the Indiana Statehouse. Simply attending, being the face of medicine and showing our lawmakers that Indiana physicians care about our state’s healthcare helps Indiana physicians make an impact. The goals of the Physician Advocacy Day include making a case for sound, safe health policy and advocating for the practice of medicine.

The date for Physician Advocacy Day is typically announced in the fall and email reminders will be sent to members to encourage their participation. Additionally, the ISMA provides resources and assists in setting up appointments with your legislator.

Participate on a Committee or Become an Officer of the IRS
The IRS is comprised of a voluntary Executive Board and committees. We encourage you to get involved, and welcome you to our team! Below are opportunities for involvement:

Executive Board
Each spring a new Treasurer is selected from submitted nominations. A call out for a new Treasurer is typically made at the fall meeting, and nominations are subsequently collected. An updated copy of your CV and a brief letter of interest is requested.

The new Treasurer position is typically announced at the spring meeting.

The position is a one year term, from June 1st to May 31st. The treasurer then advances to the Secretary position, and then on to be the President Elect and finally becomes the IRS President. Each term is one year.

Councilor
Each state chapter sends Councilors to represent his/her chapter to the annual ACR Meeting. The number of Councilors allotted for each state depends on the state’s membership numbers. Councilors vote on proposed resolutions during the annual meeting. These resolutions help to mold the actions and initiatives of the ACR.

The term of office of a Councilor is 3 years, with each term year beginning on June 1st. Call outs for interested individuals to serve as a Councilor will typically be made in the fall, when an opening is anticipated for the upcoming spring. An updated copy of your CV and a brief letter of interest is requested.

Committees
Each year, typically in the fall, a call out will be made for members to join any committee that might align with their interests/talents.  However, you don’t have to wait for an email asking if you would like to join a committee. Please contact Kay Williams, the IRS Executive Director, if you would like to join a committee, and she will put you in contact with the committee chair.
