Thank you to everyone who attended our Fall IRS Meeting this past weekend at the Indiana Repertory Theater. For those unable to join us, I would like to share several important updates and highlights from our recent activities.
IRS UPDATES
Fall 2025 Meeting Speakers

RLI Meeting 2025
• We were pleased to sponsor IU resident Kenneth Davis, MD to attend this year’s RLI meeting.

IU Summer Research Program 2025
• We co-sponsored two second-year medical students with IU: Bismah Aslam (Meharry Medical College) and Vincento Sorto (Morehouse School of Medicine).
• Vanessa Okechuku, from our first sponsored class in 2022, graduated from Meharry this year and began a radiology residency at Renaissance TX, Doctor’s Hospital.
• Applications for Summer 2026 are now open.

James M. Moorefield Economics & Health Policy Fellowship
• This marks the first year of this new fellowship, championed by Cindy Yuan, MD.
• We are honored to sponsor Alexander Huang, MD, for the 2026 fellowship year.

Kay Williams’ Retirement
• The Fall meeting was the final meeting for Kay Williams as our administrator. We recognized her many years of dedicated service, and we wish her the very best in her retirement.
• Amy Schwarz (Krieg DeVault) will be stepping in as our new administrator.

FACR
• Ryan Meyer, MD will be honored as a Fellow of the American College of Radiology at the 2026 ACR meeting. If you plan to attend, please consider supporting Ryan during this milestone.
• The next FACR application cycle opens January 2026.
We encourage members in the 15–17, 18–19, and 20+ ACR membership year categories to consider applying.
The Indiana Radiological Society application deadline is June 2026.

IRS Dues
At the Fall meeting, the membership voted to increase annual IRS dues to $200. This is our first dues adjustment in over a decade.
Rising expenses, increased support for ACR and RLI scholarships, expanded contributions to the IU Summer Research Program, and the new Moorefield Fellowship all contributed to this decision.
We remain committed to providing high-quality Spring and Fall CME meetings at no cost to members, and we appreciate your continued support.

RADPAC Committee
• A new committee dedicated to RADPAC is being formed. It will oversee distribution of RADPAC funds and collaborate closely with our lobbyist, Mike O’Conner (Bose).

1. Legislative Committee
Current members: Drs. Julie Franz, Matthew Wanner, Colleen Madden, Jordan Swensson, Lauren Harry, Atul Agarwal, April Cox, Temel Tirkes, Allison Lamont, Lauren Ladd, Chuck Mulry, Suresh Mukherji, Caryn Anderson, Derek Zipkin, Nakiisa Rogers, Mohsin Mukhtar, Korbin Davis; and Mike O’Conner (Lobbyist).
This committee monitors and reports on state legislation affecting radiology and educates lawmakers and public officials.
2. Membership Committee
Current member: Dr. Temel Tirkes
Responsible for membership reporting, recruitment, and outreach.
3. Fellowship and Awards Committee
Current members: Drs. Richard Gunderman, Matthew Wanner, Suresh Mukherji
Oversees nominations for ACR Fellowship and IRS Gold Medal Awards.
4. Insurance Intermediary Liaison
Current members: Drs. Rekha Meesa, Cindy Yuan, Richard Hallett
5. Constitution and Bylaws Committee
Current members: Drs. Julie Franz, Ryan Meyer, Mohsin Mukhtar
Conducts periodic review of the Bylaws and recommends revisions.
6. Judicial Affairs Committee
Current member: Dr. Lauren Harry
Handles matters of discipline and reviews relevant malpractice information.
7. RADPAC Committee (New)
Now forming.
